Educational Activities


On 6 April 2011 Indian Museum organized a programme for 50 slum children of different schools in collaboration with the College Street Project 16, a cultural social welfare organisation located at 50/3C Gopal Mullick Lane, Kolkata 700 012. Senior Guide Lecturer Smt. Chaitali Roy Chowdhury supervised a quiz programme for them on Indian Museum at Geological Gallery. In connection with this, they visited all the galleries with the help of lecturers.



On 26 June 2011 Senior Guide Lecturers Geology and Archaeology took Gallery classes for 14 deprived students of NGO named Karunamoyee Ramakrishna Seva Ashram.


On 28 June 2011, a Gallery class was taken by Smt. Chaitali Roy Chowdhury, Senior Guide Lecturer, Geology, for 26 Geography Hons. student of Jogesh Chandra Chowdhury College. She interpreted the students of the said college to identify Rocks and Minerals.



A group of International artist from ‘Art meet Dimension four’ from different countries of the world visited all the galleries under the guidance Senior Guide Lecturers Indian Museum on 28 October 2011 as a part of the Cultural Exchange Programme (CEP).



On the International Day of persons with disabilities, a programme was conducted by the Education unit, Indian Musuem on 3 December 2011. Seven Non Government Organisations (NGOs) joined this programme, namely (i) Arunima-Active, (ii) K. C. Memorial Centre, (iii) Pradip Centre for Autism Management, (iv) Love and Care, (v) Biswarup, (vi) Sanchar, (vii) Organisation for Friends Emergies and Resources (OFFER). The programmes included gallery visit, sit and draw competition. Cultural programme was performed by the students of the aforesaid organisations. Prizes were distributed by the Director, Indian Museum to the participants of the Sit and Draw competition.
