WANTED DIRECTOR FOR INDIAN MUSEUM ,KOLKATA

Applications are invited from the citizens of India for the post of
Director, Indian Museum, Kolkata in the scale of Rs. 18400-500-22400/-
plus usual allowances. Period of probation will be two years.
1. Educational and other qualifications required for the above post :
Essential :
- Master’s or equivalent Honours degree of a recognised University
in Indian History or Archaeology or Anthropology or Sanskrit or Arabic or
Fine Arts or Pali or Prakrit or Persian or a combination.
- Research experience (Documentary evidence to be produced).
- 10 years’ experience in a Museum of standing and 5 years’ administrative experience in a responsible post.
- Knowledge of Indian Antiquities, Archaeology, Excavations, Museums and Publications, Indian Arts and Decorative Art.
- Scholarly publications of some volume and variety.
Note :
Qualifications relaxable by the Board on the recommendations of the Selection Committee in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
Desirable :
- Study abroad on Museum, travel abroad in at least two countries notable for Museum development.
- Diploma in Museology or equivalent knowledge an experience in Museological philosophy and technique.
2. Maximum age limit of 50 years. Relaxable by the Board of Trustees
on the recommendations of the Selection Committee in case of highly
experienced or qualified persons.

block letters), father’s name, nationality, present and permanent address, date of birth, educational and other
technical qualifications, details of experiences, present post held, if
any and emoluments drawn along with attested copies of relevant
testimonials / certificates and list of publications. Candidates employed
in Government / Semi-Government / Autonomous body should apply through
