WANTED
DIRECTOR FOR INDIAN MUSEUM , KOLKATA Applications
are invited from the citizens of India for the post of Director, Indian
Museum, Kolkata in the scale of Rs. 18400-500-22400/- plus usual
allowances. Period of probation will be two years. a)
Educational and other qualifications required
for the above post : Essential
: i)
Master’s or equivalent degree of a recognised University in
Indian History or Archaeology or Anthropology or Chemistry or Fine Arts or
Pali or in a classical Indian language or Degree in Museology. ii)
Research experience (Documentary evidence of published work to be
produced). iii)
10 years experience in a museum under the control of Central/State
Govt. and 5 years administrative experience in responsible post. iv)
Knowledge of Indian Antiquities, Museum techniques, Publications
and Educational activities. Desirable
: i)
Study or travel abroad in connection with any aspect of museums
preferably in countries notable for Museum development. ii)
Knowledge of Indian Antiquities and antiquarian laws. Note
: Qualifications
are relaxable by the Board on the recommendations of the Selection
Committee in case of candidates otherwise well qualified. b)
50 years. Relaxable by not more than 5 years by the Board of
Trustees (hereinafter referred to as the Board) on the recommendations of
the Selection Committee in case of highly experienced or qualified
persons. However, age relaxation in respect of persons belonging to SC/ST
will be applicable as per Government of India’s instructions. Applications

father’s name, nationality, present and
permanent address, date of birth, educational and other technical
qualifications, details of experiences, present post held, if any and
emoluments drawn along with attested copies of relevant testimonials /
certificates and list of publications. Candidates employed in Government /
